Women's Health
Pelvic floor problems. They're not easy to share, and so often we bear them...alone. If you run errands based on distance between clean toilets, feel like your vagina is falling out, find it difficult to care for your newborn, or avoid intercourse until it affects the quality of your relationship, you are not alone.

Women's health physical therapy addresses urinary incontinence, diastasis, pre- and post natal pain, pelvic pain, pelvic prolapse and pain with intercourse.

We are dedicated to finding the source of your problems rather than chasing symptoms. We combine orthopedic and pelvic floor experience to solve your pelvic floor complaints by:
-
Balancing hip alignment
-
Visceral mobilization
-
Breathing and pelvic floor coordination
-
Core strength assessment
-
Instruction on healthy voiding habits
Concussions
A concussion is a BRAIN INJURY! Regardless of whether the initial symptoms are severe or mild, all concussions should be taken seriously. Concussions present with many different symptoms but some common ones include headaches, dizziness, trouble focusing, poor tolerance to exercise, trouble sleeping, moodiness, and neck pain. Depending on the source you read, 80-90 percent of concussions are expected to recover within 3-4 weeks. This means 10-20 percent fall outside that range and if you are one of those people it can be extremely frustrating and even debilitating to deal with the above symptoms.

You are not alone! At Elevate Physical Therapy, we specialize in working with this group of people. Your first visit with us will begin with a conversation about what your baseline was prior to your concussion and what your symptoms have been since your concussion. We then progress into a thorough examination of your neck, balance, eyes, cognition, and tolerance of activity. From there we educate you on the findings and how they are relevant to your healing process. Those findings then help to direct a personalized program that works to get you back on your feet and into the activities you enjoy. We are available every step along the way for the good days, and the bad days, ready to answer any questions you may have!
Dry Needling
Functional Dry Needling® (FDN) involves inserting a tiny monofilament needle in a muscle or muscles in order to release shortened bands of muscles and decrease trigger point activity. This can help resolve pain and muscle tension, and will promote healing. This is not traditional Chinese Acupuncture, but is instead a medical treatment that relies on a medical diagnosis to be effective. It is a great way to address both acute and chronic muscle related pain!
Running Analysis
Our running analysis is a comprehensive offering for running clients. Before even looking at your running stride, we will evaluate mobility, stability, and strength. Unfortunately, many runners have a breakdown in one or more of those areas which leads to unnecessary injuries. Once we have this information, we will do video analysis of your running stride. We put all that information together in order to give you the best possible recommendations on how to get back to running at the level you want without pain!
Postural Restoration(PRI)
"The human body is not symmetrical. The neurological, respiratory, circulatory, muscular and vision systems are not the same on the left side of the body as they are on the right, and vice versa. They have different responsibilities, function, position and demands on them. This system asymmetry is a good thing and an amazing design. The human body is balanced through the integration of system imbalances. The torso, for example, is balanced with a liver on the right and a heart on the left. Extremity dominance is balanced through reciprocal function; i.e. left arm moves with right leg and vice versa." (Ron Hruska)

PRI is a tool frequently used at Elevate Physical Therapy to help patients get past being stuck. It allows us to "reset" your pain through exercises designed to address the asymmetry above. These exercises are able to be completed on your own at home to provide pain relief and improved function!
